Continuing the centuries old craft of beeswax candle making, we hand pour our candles, using only the finest ingredients: Sustainable and cruelty free beeswax, handmade cotton wicks, in recyclable glass jars. Designing our products for your ultimate wellbeing, we’ve added a gorgeous wooden lid to our candle, and finished it with a letter-pressed label and packaged in uncoated FSC certified and recyclable card, so that every detail is carefully considered and mindful of our environment. As we make our beeswax candles by hand and not machines, each candle will be slightly different. This is what makes the candle unique and special.

Your candle will burn powerfully for the first few minutes, as the wax powers through the wick. When using the first time (and each time after that), we recommend that you burn for 4 hours, so that the wax (almost) reaches the edge of the jar, this prevents tunnelling and makes the candle last longer. Never burn the candle for short periods of time, 2 hours or less – this can also cause tunnelling, as there is not enough time for the wax pool to melt to the edge of the jar, as beeswax is a hard wax. Beeswax candle burn differently to other wax candles as it is a natural wax, and each batch of wax is different depending on the flowers the bees have pollinated. Therefore there will be variations on how the candle burns. Your candle may not burn all the way to the edge of the jar straight away, it may take 3-4 burns for this to happen. This is totally normal, so don’t worry.
Always trim the wick to 5mm in between burns – This removes carbon from the end of the wick and means the flame will be larger. This in turn helps the flame burn bigger and brighter, and will help the wax burn all the way to the edge of the jar, which prevents tunnelling. Always ensure the wick is upright – If the wick leans to one side, the melt pool will be uneven.
As beeswax is a hard wax, it need a thick wick which burns with a powerful flame. This may cause the wick to “mushroom” at the end of the wick – which is carbon build up. This can make your flame bigger or smaller. If this happens. Extinguish the flame, trim your wick to 5mm, and relight. You wick may also get ash at the end of the wick, which makes the flame small. If this happens, again, extinguished the flame, trim the wick to 5mm and relight. Your flame will now be the correct size and will ensure your wax melts properly.
We recommend extinguishing the candle by using a candle snuffer or dipping the flame in the wax melt pool. This extinguishes the flame without causing any smoke, and it also coats the wick in melted beeswax, which helps secure a powerful flame next time you light the candle.
Please remember that beeswax candles burn differently to all other wax candles. Beeswax has a different composition depending on the flowers the bees have pollinated. This means every candle will burn differently and will have quirks and imperfections. The wax may crack in between burns and it may burn unevenly. Beeswax will not melt like soy wax or paraffin wax candles – it will have its own way of burning, this is part of the charm of beeswax candles and we love its imperfections. If you want a candle to behave in a uniform way and be “perfect”, beeswax candles are not for you and we would advise choosing a different candle.
Please reuse or recycle your jar once you have enjoyed your candle.
Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep out of reach of children and pets and away from draughts and flammable materials. Never burn longer than 4 hours at a time. After burning the jar will be hot – do not touch. Always leave at least 10cm between burning candles. Do not relight when the wax level is less that 1cm.
