5 Steps To Beautifully Moisturised Skin This Winter

Organic Beeswax Balm Sensitive Skin on hands with awards

Have you started to notice your skin feeling drier as we head into winter? With temperatures set to drop further this weekend, we need to ensure our skin is protected, hydrated and moisturised, so it can best deal with the changing temperatures.

As many of you who suffer from dry skin, eczema or dermatitis will know, the changing seasons and dropping temperatures can often trigger skin flare ups. So now is the perfect time to get into the habit of nourishing your skin and locking in moisture, so we thought we would share our 5 super simple steps to ensure our skin feels and looks beautifully soft and moisturised, even in winter!  Having always had dry skin myself, I now follow these steps daily, and my skin genuinely feels so much better.

Here are our 5 steps beautifully moisturised skin this winter:

1. DRY BRUSH YOUR SKIN WHILE YOUR BATH IS RUNNING

Before you step into the bath, spend a minute using a dry body brush. Why? Dry Brushing is a really simple way to improve moisture and circulation, decrease fluid retention, improve energy levels, release toxins, cleanse the lymphatic system and boost digestion! In addition, the act of dry brushing is amazing in helping you to clear your mind, release any negative or stagnant energy or stress from your day. It is so simple to do and literally takes one minute – I always use my dry body brush as my bath is running. So why not try it too? Brushing in small circles, towards the heart, will help you to start enjoying this multitude of physical and emotional wellbeing benefits.

2. SALT & OIL BATH SOAK

Let any tension from your day melt away and give your body the chance to relax as you soak in the uniquely high mineral content of our SALT & OIL BATH SOAKS. The base of our soaks contains Apricot Kernel Oil, which binds the essential oils into the salts and is a great secret agent for your skin because the oil has a similar molecular structure to our own skin cells. This means that the essential oils in our SALT & OIL BATH SOAKS naturally absorb into the skin and provide deep hydration, without ever leaving a greasy, oily residue behind.

Our luxurious bath soaks come in two ranges; ORGANIC TEA TREE AND LAVENDER or SWEET ORANGE AND BERGAMOT. Whichever you choose, you will experience the oils releasing into your bathwater, scenting your bath gorgeously, and also working to deeply moisturise your skin.

3. LOCK IN MOISTURE WITH THE BATCH#001 ORGANIC BEESWAX BALM WITH ECO CERT PRICKLY PEAR SEED OIL

After your bath, your skin will feel silky smooth thanks to the essential oils from your SALT & OIL BATH SOAK. So now is the time to ensure you lock in this moisture – and we have the perfect product for you. The 4 completely natural ingredients in our ORGANIC BEESWAX BALM have been carefully selected for their deeply moisturising properties.

Here is the low down on the 4 ingredients you will find in our BALMS

ORGANIC BEESWAX

BEESWAX AND CANDLE WICK

This is the purest beeswax you can find. Created by bees who have pollinated only organic crops and flowers, completely free from pesticides. It is certified by the Soil Association and Cosmos and has a host of amazing qualities – it is antifungal, antibacterial, antimicrobial, edible and naturally aromatic, and has been used in skincare for centuries. A little goes a long way.

ORGANIC APRICOT KERNEL OIL – anti inflammatory and incredibly soothing for eczema prone skin

ORGANIC APRICOT KERNEL OIL

Apricot kernel oil has been used for decades for its anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, antibacterial, antiseptic, antioxidant and anti-carcinogenic properties. There is so much natural goodness in this oil, and as such we’ve included the finest organic apricot kernel oil into the base of our beeswax balms.

Apricot kernel oil is loaded with rejuvenating and protectant qualities for the skin. Its benefits and properties include it being:

NON GREASY: Apricot kernel oil deeply absorbs into the skin without clogging pores, leaving a smooth, silky feel.

AN EXCELLENT NATURAL EMOLLIENT: The emollient properties of apricot kernel oil can help to exfoliate and moisturise the skin. The oil is particularly beneficial for dry and inflamed skin conditions such as eczema which crave deep moisture.

LOADED WITH VITAMINS: Apricot kernel oil is rich in vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, B17 and E.  Vitamin E’s antioxidant properties protect against free radicals (which cause damage and age the skin) and promote skin cell regeneration.  The B vitamins boost the immune system and create new cells, whilst Vitamin A increases the creation of collagen and skin elasticity. We particularly love that out of  all products found in the plant kingdom, Apricot kernel oil has the highest concentration of vitamin B17, which has been attributed with anti-carcinogenic properties.

ORGANIC, UNREFINED, SHEA BUTTER – moisturises, reduces inflammation, and provides relief to itchy skin

shea butter and shea nuts

Shea Butter, which is extracted from the nut of the African Shea Tree, is a natural soothing and moisturising substance. It is loaded with skin-boosting benefits, and is a main ingredient in all of our ORGANIC BEESWAX BALMS.  Benefits of Shea Butter include:

SKIN NOURISHMENT: The concentration of natural vitamins and fatty acids in shea butter makes it incredibly nourishing and moisturising for skin. The rich tree-nut oils in shea butter can soak into the skin, creating a smooth and soft barrier that seals in moisture.

ANTI-INFLAMMATORY: Unrefined Shea Butter has been proven to have extensive anti-inflammatory and healing properties in several studies. It is packed with antioxidants including vitamin E, polyphenols and phytonutrients – all anti-inflammatory products which calm and soothe the skin.

NUTRIENT DENSE: Shea Butter is full of nutrients, including vitamin A, which has many healing properties and has been known to aid in treating blemishes, wrinkles, eczema and dermatitis, as well as burns and stretch marks.

ORGANIC: We only use organic ingredients in our ORGANIC BEESWAX BALMS, and the Shea Butter we use is certified organic and unrefined, as close to its natural state as you can get.

ORGANIC, RAW COCONUT OIL – loaded with antioxidants, ant-aging properties, and protects the skin from harmful bacteria

RAW ORGANIC COCONUT OIL

The benefits of Raw Coconut Oil for your skin are extensive, and that’s why we use it as a base for all of our ORGANIC BEESWAX BALMS.  Like our other key ingredients, this oil is an amazing all-rounder for the skin. It’s a moisturiser, rejuvenator, and helps with dry skin and irritations. Here are just a few of the benefits of Raw Coconut Oil for your skin:

ANTI-AGING: The antioxidant properties found in raw coconut oil help stop skin ageing early.

DEEPLY MOISTURISING: Coconut oil is full of vitamin E, which is about the most moisturising thing you can give your skin! It protects against cracking, helps the skin to grow and the skin cells to rejuvenate. Coconut Oil also reduces moisture loss via pores due to its natural composition of saturated fat and keeps the appearance of the skin healthy and smooth.

HEALS WOUNDS: If there is a cut or wound on the skin, applying Raw Coconut Oil to the skin, can help in the protection from microbial infections.

ORGANIC:  Like every ingredient in our ORGANIC BEESWAX BALMS, the coconut oil we use is certified organic, raw and cold pressed, and is of the highest quality you can find

If you are looking to supercharge skin hydration, choose our ORGANIC BEESWAX BALM WITH ECO CERT PRICKLY PEAR SEED OIL –  our Eco Cert Prickly Pear Seed Oil is loaded with Vitamin E (in fact it contains 150% MORE Vitamin E than Argan oil). This vitamin is responsible for toning the skin and reducing the appearance of wrinkles. In Northern Africa, specifically Morocco and Tunisia, where we source our Eco Cert Prickly Pear Seed Oil, this oil is described by the locals as “natural Botox” – we can’t get enough of it!

If you are in a rush after your bath to get on with your day, you can apply our ORGANIC BEESWAX BALM to slightly damp skin as it will hold onto the extra moisture and won’t feel greasy.  Unlike using some single ingredient oils, which can sit on top of the skin, our balms soak in straight away, which means you can get dressed without worrying about greasy marks.

4. TAKE CARE OF THOSE CUTICLES AND LIPS

It’s easy to forget to moisturise our lips and cuticles until it is too late, and the effects of the cold air have already done their damage,  leaving these areas dry and chapped. Our ORGANIC BEESWAX BALMS are suitable for your whole body – including these areas. And best of all, they stay put and deeply moisturise for the whole day, so no need to constantly re-apply. Best of all, they come in a hand 15ml glass jar, so you can easily fit into your bag, to always have on hand whenever you need it.

5. SEAL IN YOUR BLUSHER

Ever noticed how makeup doesn’t stay put so well in the winter? That is because our
skin tends to be less moisturised, as the cold air and central heating can dry it out, which means that make-up ‘sits’ on top of the skin, making it look dull and lack-lustre. I always find powder makeup quite irritating and am convinced this “cakey’ makeup makes me look so much older! I’m a massive fan of a cream blush rather than powder, but if you don’t have one, you can make one your self – so simply and inexpensively.

Instead of adding a powder blusher directly onto your skin, mix it with our ORGANIC BEESWAX BALMS with your fingertips, then apply a small amount to the cheekbones, dabbing it on and blending into the apple of your cheeks and cheekbone. Not only will you notice how your makeup stays put for longer, but your cheeks will have a gorgeous, rosy glow, looking completely natural, whilst also keeping your skin really moisturised throughout the day. Really simple, but SO effective.
